There is no legalisation for body piercing
in place at the moment (other than earlobes) but we believe something is
imminent, which we must admit is long overdue. Until then it is down to our
discretion as to what our procedures and policies are. We have taken advice
from various knowledgable people (mendip district council health department,
spykes body piercing Bristol & studex) their advice coupled with our own
initiative has led us to the following:
No one under the age of 16 to be
pierced without parental attendance - The parent will be asked to sign a form
giving us the necessary permission to carry out the procedure and also being
responsible in the assistance of the aftercare.
That all persons being
pierced will be required to sign a form in order that they understand our
requirements as to their health and giving us permission to carry out the
procedure.
These forms are also used for our records and are kept in
the strictest confidence.
That we only use sterilized titanium
jewellery. That we use pre-packed hospital grade sterilized needles. That all
utensils used during the process have been thoroughly cleaned and put through
an autoclave sterilization cycle. That the necessary protective clothing is
worn by the piercer (sterile gloves, apron etc.) if you enter any tattoo or
piercing studio that does not practice at least any of the above methods then
we suggest they are well avoided. |
